Remarks: IGF 1 (Insulin-like Growth Factor 1) is used for diagnosis of acromegaly,for assessing hypopituitarism and hypothalamic lesions in childhold. Malnutrition produces low IGF 1 levels while Growth Hormone levels remain within normal ranges.High values occur with adolescence, true precocious puberty, pregnancy, obesity, pituitary gigantism and acromegaly.
