Remarks: Scrapings test includes UV microscopy, CA and GC cultures. UV microscopy is used for the direct detection of septate hyphae and/or microspores. CA (Chloranfenicol/Actidione) and GC (Gentamycin/Chloranfenicol) cultures are used in order to differentiate dermatophytic (pathogenic) from saprophytic (non-pathogenic) fungii growth. Cultures growth may take up to 25 days to be finished.
