Remarks: Reticulocytes are non-mature non-nucleated red blood cells (RBC) that still contain RNA and continue to synthesize haemoglobin after loss of the nucleus. Reticulocytes count is useful in assessment of acute blood loss, haemolysis and in evaluation of erythropoiesis.
