Remarks: Usualy kindeys deplete about 90 per cent of dietary potassium. More than 98 per cent of the total body potassium (K ) is intracellular.Low potassium levels (Hypokalemia) are seen in alkalaemia, insulin therapy and in inherited periodic paralysis. Hyperkalemia may be caused by acuted and chronic renal failure.
