Remarks: HLA-B27 is strongly associated with ankylosing spondylitis; HLA-B27-positive patients have a greater chance of having or developing ankylosing spondylitis than a negative patient. HLA-27 antigen is not causative of the disorder. HLA-B27 has also been linked with congenital deficiency of complement C4 and C2 as well as with adrenal hyperplasia.
