Remarks: Urine calcium excretion reflects calcium intake, rates of intestinal calcium absorption, bone resorption and renal loss. Those processes are related with parathyroid hormone and Vitamin D levels. Urine calcium is used in the assessment of parathyroid disorders, bone disease, calcium metabolism, renal stones.High urinary calcium excretion does not consistently, reliably distinguish hyperparathyroidism from other diseases.
