Remarks: TSH (Thyrotropin Hormone) is used for the investigation
of hypothyroidism (increased TSH levels) and for the differential diagnosis of
primary hypothyroidism from pituitary/hypothalamic hypothyroidism. Decreased TSH
occurs both in hyperthyroidism or when excessive therapeutic thyroid
replacement occurs.
