Remarks: Copper is an essential trace elemnt, component of many metallloenzymes (Cytochromes, dismutase, tyrosinase, lysyl oxydase, clotting factor V, cross-linking enzyme of the hair keratin, ferroxydase and ceruloplasmin). Decreased in Wilsons disease, nephrosis and in malnutrition in infants. Increased serum copper levels may be seen in certain cases of anemia, malignancies, inflammatory conditions and in some cases of cirrosis.
